What do you think would be the best change to the immigration bill, and why?
I know this guest worker plan is a big joke, but seriously, if there should be any change, what should it be? I consider these changes essential before we can talk about changing the current bill. 1-Build a wall between Mexico and the US, 2-Allow all law enforcement the right to enforce the Federal laws of immigration. The problem is too big for each level of government to work on it independently. 3-Make Mexico enforce immigration both ways. 4-Stop any non-profit org, or anyone, in aiding illegals. 5-Reward those who have applied for legal immigration since they are supporting our laws. 6- Force each would-be immigrant to be mentored by a US citizen for at least three years. OK, all the others might not be essnetial, but I do feel we must show we can enforce the current laws before we move onto any changes. The only reason why we do not have them enforced is the "look the other way" policy. What do you think?

- To remove illegal aliens from the country and never give them amnesty, and to make a fence and fund new border guards, stop the war in Iraq immediately and investigate 9/11 and charge the Bush admin with treason. 9/11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB!
- If we don't enforce the Border, it won't make a hill of beans difference what we do with the ones who are already here, because in 20 years, there will be another 11-20 million of them. ENFORCE THE BORDERS!
- Under this Immigration Bill, if Albert Einstein or Leonardo DaVinci were to seek American citizenship, they would be forced to wait just as everyone else. America has basically adopted some brilliant, brilliant minds over the years. Whether they were fleeing persecution like Einstein, or just fell in love with our country like Rachmaninoff. Our old standards for immigration were able to make exceptions for people of special status, like your brilliant artists and your genius scientists. Thanks to the new bill, this will be no more
- They should seek citizenship, but actually we all are illegal immigrants unless u are native american decendents.
- Just in from local tv-the chief of the Los Angeles PD just informed his men (and women I assume) that they can no longer stop someone just to check on their immigration status. His rationale was-our police department has enough to do with the crime rate. So-we would have to have a private policing agency to go around and question anyone who looks like an illegal. Definitely agree that we need to reward people who want to be citizens by not charging them thousands of dollars just to fill out the forms. You would have to force legal residents to mentor new citizens. Maybe we could use retired people who have nothing to do with their time. Never sure about building that wall along the Mexican border. Every atempt we've made to stop people from sneaking into this country has failed. And still they come, over fences, across rivers, in the back of pick-up trucks, huddled by the score in the backs of 18 wheelers. I really do like the idea of working with Mexico to maybe make living in Mexico more attractive. We've never tried that. Might work. If a lot of what I've typed sounds sarcastic, I dont really mean it to be. I'm just so frustrated with the whole issue and I'm having trouble seeing any light at the end of the tunnel.
- Invite guest workers that must submit to a GPS chip and a corresponding ID...missing either..and prison until deportation for the duration of the agreement..year to year agreement/sponsorship no citizenship until they pay their way-if they are criminals it will be revealed during the sponsorship stage
