How long will it take to receive a visa after filing with immigration?

When my husband files on my behalf with immigration so i can obtain a green card and other legal working documents, how long from the filing date will i be able to receive a visa so i may travel out of the country? Again, How long after filing with immigration will i get the appropriate documents to travel ONLY? Thanks :)

  1. About 90 days .....
  2. I say about 4 months. If you filed in an area with high volume of applications like New York,California, that affects your wait time.
  3. Well receiving some kind of permission to travel while your green card is pending is called "Advance Parole" You can receive it only after you file your I-485 (adjustment of Status) application. It takes around 60 to 90 days to process.
