how old do you have to be to open a brokerage account?
I am 16 years old and looking to invest in various stocks and bonds. I am just wondering how old do you have to be to open up a brokerage account and buy stocks and bonds on the open market. Is there any other way i can buy bonds rather than having a brokerage account or do i need that to invest?

- You have to be 18 to open an account, HOWEVER, you along with one of your parents (or guardian) open a custodian account. Your parent would be custodian for you under the uniform gifts to minors act. You must open the account with a broker/dealer since they are the only ones that can buy/sell securities for you. What took you so long to get into investments, go for it
