Immigration? Hi, I have to write a compare/contrast essay on the immigration situation in the late 19th/early 20th century compared to the immigration situation to now. My book has everything I need on the situation in the time period stated, but I am not sure on the immigration situation today. Could anyone maybe give me a few points on what it is like today or maybe some websites? Thanks in advance for any help.
immigration? If a person or persons have already filed their petition and in the comming time after that they have married and had a child, does this effect in any way the process of their immigration? For example, the father of a family files the proper paperwork for immigration, and in the comming years one of their children has married and had a child, is there any extra paperwork or processes that need to be undertaken? Or is it as i understand, that the persons paperwork will be filed, and they then thereafter must again independently file a petition for the new wife and child? I hope you understand the situaiton i am trying to convey, and will help me in understanding the proper procedures. Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

What is this immigration reform that those supporting illegal aliens keep demanding Is it making something? What is this "immigration reform" that those supporting illegal aliens keep demanding? Is it making something that is illegal legal? Is it amnesty for those who have broken our laws? Is it relaxing immigration laws in order to improve the already overwhelming influx of immigrants? That's what it appears to be. So considering this, how long will it be until this country becomes just like the countries the illegals are fleeing en masse?

How can I start a business in Immigration? I am trying to start my own business in the Immigration field. I have 6 years of heavy experience in regards to Immigration and its laws. I have worked with various prestigious Immigration attorneys and other organizations. I have finally decided to become my own boss. However, I have received very little information on how to start my own business. I have heard that there are grants that the government provides, but I don't know where to go. I have searched the internet and have found very little. If any one of you can advice as to where to go or where to call, that will be very helpful. By the way I live in Dallas, TX and the competition is great, however, my ideas as to how to run the business are not liked by attorneys or organizations because they don't like to have payment plans. Please help in any way you can.

What are peoples take on illegal immigration now? Its been a while since I have heard anything on illegal immigration and what our government is planning on doing about it.This discussion is more intended to the illegal immigration from Mexico because that seems to be where the majority of them come from and their ability to cross back and forth to Mexico. I don't want anyone to make this a racist issue because it's not, it's a sovereignty issue because Americans citizens are not just comprised of one race. I would like to hear from many different people and many different point of views and especially Americans of Mexican decent.
How much do immigration companies charge? We are looking into moving to Canada from the UK. We are going to an Expo in October and are planning a visit at Easter. My hubby is on the skilled workers list and are hoping to get in this way. We were wondering if we should sign up to a specialist company to help us. However I can't find any information on the charges. Does anyone know or have any experience of the immigration process.

when is citizenship and immigration office closed in summer? I applied for my canadian citizenship in Vancouver in March, 2009 and I got my book. However, I still haven't receive any notice about when my citizenship exam is. I am planning for a long vacation in May and June and I am really scared I am going to miss the exam and have to reapply again. So, my questions are: is there a summer period when the citizenship and immigration office is closed? If I miss my exam, do I have to reapply again? Thank you very much.
How can a federal immigration law enforced by a state be racist in and of itself? Isn't it only an enforcer that can profile and not the law itself that profiles? Any agency or law enforcement officer who profiles will face lawsuits and other consequences on a case by case basis as they already do with other enforcement issues. In that light isn't the new Arizona immigration reform law well within the constitution? If you haven't at least skimmed the text of the law don't bother answering.
What does legal immigration have to do with illegals? I keep hearing people wanting to change laws and do things who's effect really applies only to legal immigrants and not illegals. How does stopping all immigration help stop illegal immigration? It bothers me when people disguise their anti-immigration agenda with fighting illegals.
What are some reasons immigration should be illegal? I have to do a debate for school on why immigration should be illegal. I hope no one gets offended by this because i think ppl should have the right to choose where they want to live, but unfortunately i didnt get that option. Help please!

Had no idea it would so much trouble when she visit very easily at the airport. The woman search everything and read everything and then cancelled her visa. The immigration officer had no idea what she was doing and was asking everyone for help. The other immigration officers did not agree to what she was doing and still allowed Sammy to go across. Thanks Fred S. This happen a couple years ago but she now have permanent residency, but encourages visitors to fly.

How can you be for reform/amnesty but claim to be against illegal immigration? I keep getting answers like, we are for reform but against illegal immigration. What is the difference? Aren't they one in the same? How can you be against illegal immigration but for the illegals who broke those immigration laws? How can you be for reform/amnesty if your against illegal immigration? Is this just more bull from advocates to make it seem like they want security for this country or just that the illegals they want amnesty for are already here, including themselves?
What is this new arizona immigration act that everyone is talking about? How can I use an Immigration Visa Number in my genealogy research? I started researching my genealogy a few years ago but got off track and never resumed it until recently. In some of the material I had from before I found copies of ship manifests and some of my ancestors are on them. I noticed they each have a unique "Immigration Vista Numbers". How might I use this in my research?
How do immigration policy affect immigrants in daily life? I'm doing a research project and I need to interview someone with questions about immigration policies affecting their lives. However, I don't really know how immigration policies would affect someone in their daily lives. So I need some help with making the questions up.
What can the average American do about illegal immigration issues? I think it's pretty obvious by now that illegal immigration hurts any country (whether it's the U.S. or the U.K.) in many ways. I am all for stopping illegal immigration, and doing it humanely, but it seems like our government is too focused on foreign problems. What can we as average citizens do to make our voices heard on this issue? Do we need to write our Senator, our Congressman, the President? How do we make our voices heard? I would like to align myself with an organization that is firm but not extreme. Frankly, some of the organizations that I've looked for on the net do seem racist, don't really seem to offer any solutions, and just seem content on complaining. I am all for a humane and fair way of handling this, but we've gotta stop being wimps. We need more action and less complaining.
Are anti-immigration activists exploiting the story of the slain AZ Rancher just to further their agenda? Investigators have found NO evidence at the scene pointing to drug smuggling, they have NO leads, or witnesses, but Anti-immigration activists are quick to say it was an illegal, it was the Mexican drug cartel, and have even asked for DHS's Secretary Jane Napalitano's resignation. Are they using this very sad story to spread fear into people with hopes that they jump on their "band wagon" of anti-immigration extremism?
What are your views on immigration and illegal immigrants? Recently I have discovered some interesting opinions on illegal "aliens." Some people believe that because they are illegal they don't have the right to public education. It amazes me how sometimes people forget that these "aliens" are humans too. What are your opinions on immigration?
What do you think would be the best change to the immigration bill, and why? I know this guest worker plan is a big joke, but seriously, if there should be any change, what should it be? I consider these changes essential before we can talk about changing the current bill. 1-Build a wall between Mexico and the US, 2-Allow all law enforcement the right to enforce the Federal laws of immigration. The problem is too big for each level of government to work on it independently. 3-Make Mexico enforce immigration both ways. 4-Stop any non-profit org, or anyone, in aiding illegals. 5-Reward those who have applied for legal immigration since they are supporting our laws. 6- Force each would-be immigrant to be mentored by a US citizen for at least three years. OK, all the others might not be essnetial, but I do feel we must show we can enforce the current laws before we move onto any changes. The only reason why we do not have them enforced is the "look the other way" policy. What do you think?
Who is a good person to contact regarding immigration? I have to write a letter to someone who is involved in the immigration issue. It needs to be someone or an organization that looks to help stop the immigration problem by a positive means. That is, stop it by looking for reasonable solutions that benefit both immigrants and Americans. Just send me any ideas. Doesnt have to be exactly this, i'll see if it ok. Thanks!
Are amnesty and immigration reform the same thing when they deal with illegal aliens? Wouldn't it be rewarding the same invaders who broke the immigration laws? Just because they pay a fine for their crimes, what about using fake and I.D's they have stolen and been working under? Are these illegal advocates just using the phrase "immigration reform" to mask that it is a amnesty? What will they do if there is nothing in the reform but orders for deportation of these illegals? Every official in my State, how about you.
How do i become a customs/immigration officer? Ive just left school (finished my A-levels) and now looking for a career. There is a few things that i would like to do but one of them is a customs/immigration officer at an airport, how do i go about doing this?
How much education is required to be qualified for Immigration to Canada? This is in relation to another question I asked. Under the categories, Provincial Nominee, Skilled Worker, and the new Canadian Experience Class, what is the least amount of education required for Immigration to Canada? Some people keep saying you need to have at least a 4 year degree or a baccalaureate etc to be qualified, yet the Canada Immigration website says you can qualify with less (2 year diploma, etc). So I'm just curious what should I believe and does anyone else have an idea of what the least amount of education is required?
How does illegal immigration to the united states help the relationships of the united states? What would be an opinion topic for an illegal immigration paper? I submitted a topic to my teacher and was going to write about how illegal immigration will be diffcult to control but she said "duh that's obvious" and rejected it. Any ideas on how I can tweak it to make it more of an OPINION paper on illegal immigration? It's for a college econ class. Thanks for your help!
Is the gay right issue less important than illegal immigration to you? I live in California and we see these demonstrations about prop8 about gay mariage (despite the vote of the people) as if they want to overturn it I think we must save mariage and stop these rallies. Because for me we have bigger issues to deal with in MEXifornia, like illegal immigration which ravages our state. Which issue is the most important for you? Isnt illegal immigration a far more important issue in southern states?
What are the cons of illegal immigration? I have to write a 10 pages essay about a problem occurring in the U.S, and I picked immigration...what are some key points I should focus on, and where can I get the information?

How to report to the US immigration against someone with criminal proceedings in their home country? I know someone who is harassing his wife and kids, not providing their maintenance, having totally abandoned them and dodging criminal proceedings filed in court in his home country. Because he has a valid US multiple entry visitor's visa, the wife suspects that he might flee there. How does one intimate the US immigration authorities about the criminal suit and also maybe request for his visa cancellation?

What is the best way to remind immigration caseworkers to hurry up? Is calling them on the phone the best way? We recently sent some letters to the immigration authorities, and were told to fax in the letters instead - yet found it was impossible to do so - we tried it! What numbers should be called? One of those 800 numbers that they have, or something different?

How do you get rid of illegal immigration? I keep hearing that you are after illegals. Do you have any idea what the policy implications would be. You can beef up boarder security, but how do you find the illegal aliens that are already here. It would be impossible, or just as expensive as the war on drugs and we all know how thats going. Are we gonna have commercials. "Illegal immigration Kills". Yeah, Nancy (Reagan) can sponsor it. Its a shock to me also that you tight wad Republicans want to spend the kind of money it would take to get rid of illegal aliens, but dont mind cutting social security benefits. You have some very twisted priorities. Wow. No real answers huh? Less than I expected from all the bright people on here. (that was sarcasm) Illegal immigrants cant recieve social programs because they are illegal. Try again. I seriously think that we should take all that money and dump it into the educational system. These answers are horrible. does anybody have more than 1 brain cell out there?
Why is it racist to need immigration controls in England? In other countries there are stricter immigration controls and noone seems to mind. In the UK, the population increase yearly is that the same size as the WHOLE population of Bristol. Most of this population increase is immigration - especially since immigrants are having lots of babies when they get here and have had a mini population boom. That is the statistics over with - I agree that there should be immigration and emmigration. However - England is now so over populated that everyone is suffering - there is overcrowding, education, the welfare system and healthcare is poor due to being overused and abused. This is clear, so why doe sthe Government not introduce stricter immigration rules? Why has it not been done already? Surely all these problems have not been overlooked? The following are population control petitios - please sign. If you don't want to follow the link you can google number 10 petitions - type in population under search petitions... http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/populations/ http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/worldpoprowth/ Excellant answer Angela - thank you, at least someone understands where I am coming from! As I think too, nothing to do with creed or clour - purely a countyr fit to burst!
Which is more important to you Immigration or the Enivornment? Immigration imports 1 million people here every year, this leads to the overpopulation of the country destroying the environment, good examples of this are So Cal and South Florida, So to keep America's beautiful environment we need immigration control, or the whole country will soon be one giant So Cal! America will have 440 million people by 2050! So which is more important to you more Yosemite or more Sprawl?
What is the US' immigration policy with regards to Mexicans coming to this country? We're all hearing about people coming over illegally, but it seems to me that people who do things legally have a hard time, waiting for a long time, endless paperwork, etc. Is this true? What does it take to immigrate from Mexico to the US? How much paperwork? How much money? What documents? What personal info? How long approximately does it take? Can the process be sped up for certain individuals, or is everyone in the same boat (no pun intended)? Is it easier to come over as a single person? As a family? I would just really like to know, since so many people are talking about immigration, a little of what it is like to immigrate. Stories of personal experience are welcome, especially if it is particularly demonstrative of the system as a whole, as well as factual info with sources, if possible. Thanks! ok, I'm not looking for rants against immigrants, legal or illegal, I'm just looking for information on the process of trying to immigrate to the US. I'm not looking for a heated debate!
What would Jesus say about the factors that lead to immigration? I am neither Christian nor non-Christian. My question is not so much about "Jesus" as it is about spirituality in general in the US. Do you feel the popular prevailing views on immigration are balanced? Are they compassionate? What would the world's great spiritual leaders have to say about the inequalities that lead to lack of opportunity in our neighboring countries; as well as to genocide, poverty, and infant mortality? Finally, what is the role of the individual in all of this? Of course anyone who wants to can answer, but preference given to rational, balanced answers. addendum: not so much asking from a political standpoint, but from one of the heart- I have been bombarded lately with Hispanic-bashing messages from folks who really should know better. Just trying to gain perspective. I believe firmly in separation of church and state. This is not a political question! I have chosen to dedicate my life to understanding the issues that lead to Central American poverty and immigration, and do what I can to help one small area. My question is about humanity in general... I would add that I believe a nation's policies may be unjust, and that there are laws of a higher power that supercede the laws of an unjust nation.
How common is it for immigration lawyers to exchance services for sex? A guy I know is an immigration attorney in his mid-30's, working mainly with Mexican and Chinese clients, and it's pretty well-known that he trades fees for sex with some of the younger women in his clientele base. Technically this is an ethical violation, but it seems to be relatively common. Is it more common in immigration law than in other areas of law, or do lawyers in other fields commonly exchange sex for services?
How do immigration officers can find when illegal alians leave the US? Since The US immigration officers at the airport don't check the passports of foreigners who are leaving the US, how do they know how long each foreigners have stayed in the US? Foreigners who've overstayed could pretend not to have overstayed when they come to the US next time, could they?
What is America actively doing to enforce immigration policy? I am writing a paper on "What America actively does to enforce immigration policy and to ensure that aliens visiting under a visa do not stay longer than the expiration date." My paper will discuss current laws pertaining to this issue, as well as current organizations and/or programs which handle such issues. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me relating to this issue, such as current laws or policies and how they are actively being enforced.
Why not raise the penalty for illegal immigration to at least a felony? Since it costs the taxpayers so much, and so many illegals are imprisoned etc., and all of the other negatives that go with it, shouldn't they at least raise the penalty for illegal immigration to a felony level. Seems like Congress was thinking about doing this at one time. It would perhaps make illegals think twice, if they knew they would be facing stiff jail sentences and high fines.
What is the process immigration puts a foreigner that marries a Citizen through? I've been dating a girl for some time, I'm a US Citizen. She entered the country legally but overstayed her visa. We've lived together for some time, and want to get married. I've heard that immigration, in order to avoid fraud, aims to 'test' your marriage with a lot of questions and tests based on a 'traditional' marriage. We are anything but a traditional couple, and are quite open about a number of things. I worry that if I marry her, we will not pass their conservative perceptions, for a number of reasons, and I worry that instead of doing well for both of us, she may end up getting deported or at the very least unfairly hassled. What kinds of 'tests' does immigration put the spouse of a US Citizen through? Interviews? Home-visits? etc. etc.
Where can i find a good UK immigration lawyer? I would like to get in contact with a non-bias immigration officer because im starting to believe they just dnt want anyone else in the country. I dnt want to sound rude but im just coming for my gurl, not the country.
What is your state doing about illegal immigration? I live and own a busness in Arizona and my state is doing all it can to stop the flow of illegal immigration. What is your state or city doing? Is it a problem in other states that dont share a border with another country? INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana House Republicans said Tuesday they will seek legislation designed to crack down on illegal immigration in the state. Rep. Eric Turner, R-Gas City, said Republicans hope the plan will have a "chilling effect" on the flow of illegal immigration in Indiana. Some of the proposals are designed to ensure that state agencies comply with federal laws by denying illegal immigrants public benefits such as assisted housing, post-secondary education, unemployment assistance, and health care paid through Medicaid. Another provision would require the Indiana State Police to seek a pilot program with the federal government that would broaden the authority of troopers to investigate immigration violations and detain illegal immigrants. House Democrats say they're against illegal immigration, too, but that the Republicans' plan won't work because it doesn't include extra penalties for employers who hire the illegals. We own property in Carmel,IN,so this is good news
How swift is the immigration to England? I am interested in applying for immigration to England. I would most probably enroll in my masters in the UK next year. Can I apply whilst studying for my masters? Does anyone know the procedure for immigration. Furthermore, someone told me that if you work 5 years in the UK, you can become a citizen. Can anyone update me with this?
What is the democrats plan on illegal immigration? All the sitting Democrat Senators who are pursuing the presidency already endorsed a very detailed plan for "comprehensive immigration reform" when they voted for cloture on McCain/Kennedy back in June. Although it never used the word "amnesty," McCain/Kennedy allowed for a form of amnesty with its Z Visas. That's why virtually everyone outside the United States Congress and the White House vigorously opposed it.
What will it take to stop illegal immigration? Of course by "illegal immigration", I am mostly talking about illegal Mexicans, because they are the biggest threat at this point. What is the problem here? Why won't the represenatives who we, "The People", voted into office listen to what we are saying. Well over 70 percent of AMERICANS want something done about this issue. Honestly, what is it going to take? Is our President, his staff, our senators, and reresenatives, forgetting why they were elected into office, and who they answer to. They are supposed to be representing the people.... Why are they not doing what the majority of legal citizens want done? Is it time the people stand up for what they want, and let it be known that we still have a voice in this country? When I talk about the people who represent us, I'm talking about all political parties. So don't go blaming it on President Bush, and his administration. May I remind you, that it's mostly democrats who want amnesty!
What is the answer to the illegal immigration people who overstay their Visa? It was pointed out that 75% of the illegal immigrants coming into the US enter the country legally with a US Vistors Visa, and then refuse to leave when the Visa expires. This represents 75 of the problem. What can/should we do to stop the biggest part of the illegal immigration flood, and those that are already here on expired Visa?
